Antique Circa 1900 18ct Yellow Gold Sapphire & Rose-Cut Diamond Five-Stone Ring

A beautiful antique sapphire and diamond five-stone ring dating to circa 1900, crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold and featuring wonderfully delicate pierced detailing.

The elongated navette-shaped setting is centred with a beautiful natural sapphire displaying an attractive teal-blue hue, flanked by two characterful rose-cut natural diamonds and a further sapphire at either end. One of the outer sapphires shares the distinctive teal-blue colouring of the central stone, while the other is a deeper blue and appears to be a later replacement. The rose-cut diamonds provide a soft, subtle sparkle typical of antique jewellery.

One of the loveliest features of this ring is its decorative openwork design. A pierced border of circular motifs surrounds the gemstones, creating a light and intricate appearance, while engraved detailing continues onto the shoulders. Despite its delicate proportions, the elongated setting gives the ring a lovely presence on the hand.

The inside of the shank bears the maker's mark S.H&Co, together with a gold standard mark and Birmingham assay mark. The date letter has unfortunately become too rubbed to read clearly.

A charming and very wearable antique ring, combining the rich colour of natural sapphire with the distinctive sparkle of rose-cut diamonds and beautifully detailed turn-of-the-century goldwork.
